This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies the Foveate platform and website (foveate.com) use, why we use them, and how you can control them. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
2. Cookie Categories
2.1 Essential Cookies (Strictly Necessary)
These cookies are required for the platform to function and cannot be disabled. They enable core functionality like authentication, security, and navigation.

3. Cookies in Shared Presentations
When a Viewer accesses a shared presentation, the following cookies may be used:

Viewer analytics tracking (slide engagement, interaction data) only occurs after the Viewer provides affirmative consent via the consent banner. If the Viewer declines, only the essential session cookie is set.
4. How to Manage Cookies
4.1 Cookie Consent Banner
On foveate.com, a cookie banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. It has two buttons. “Accept” allows Google Analytics and HubSpot to set the analytics cookies listed in section 2.2. “Decline” keeps them off: HubSpot does not load, and Google Analytics does not set or read cookies. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage, and the banner does not appear again on its own.
The banner appears automatically when your browser is set to a European time zone or the US Pacific time zone. In other time zones it does not appear on its own, and analytics cookies are allowed until you decline them.
To change your choice at any time, click “Cookie Settings” in the website footer. It reopens the banner on any page. If you accepted before and now choose “Decline”, we stop HubSpot, delete the analytics cookies set on foveate.com, and reload the page. They stay off on later visits until you choose “Accept” again. Shared presentations have their own consent banner, described in section 3.
4.2 Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically set your browser to block all cookies, accept only first-party cookies, or delete cookies when you close the browser. Note that blocking essential cookies may prevent the platform from functioning properly.

4.3 Global Privacy Control (GPC)
Foveate recognizes and honors Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we will treat it as a request to opt out of non-essential cookies and any data sharing that may constitute “sale” or “sharing” under applicable privacy laws.

Some cookies on our site are set by third-party services we use. These third parties may use cookies in accordance with their own privacy policies:

We do not allow third-party advertising cookies on foveate.com. We do not serve ads and do not use cookies for cross-site behavioral advertising or retargeting.
6. Legal Basis and Data Protection
Under the ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC as amended) and GDPR:
- Essential cookies are set under the “strictly necessary” exemption and do not require consent.
- Analytics and functional cookies are set only after you provide affirmative consent via the cookie consent banner.
- Consent is freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous — we do not use pre-checked boxes or implied consent.
- Withdrawal: You can withdraw your consent at any time. Click “Cookie Settings” in the website footer and choose “Decline”. We delete the analytics cookies set on foveate.com and do not set them again unless you accept.
